HELLO FROM MATT
My name is Matt Gorton, I am an ‘ordinand’ which is the first part of training to become a vicar, as such I have the immense pleasure of working with Anne across the Mission Community for the next three years. Hopefully by now I will have at least had the chance to say hello to you all. If we haven’t yet met, then please do introduce yourself when you see me. Being an ordinand means I spend half a week studying towards a degree in theology and the other half of the week working in the community. Moving to rural life is very different from working and living in St Jude’s in Plymouth, where I spent 11 years as their youth worker. But I have taken to it well as have the rest of the family. My wife Beth was previously a tutor at Plymouth College of Art but is now retraining to become a primary school teacher, which she has taken to very easily already and will make an exceptional primary teacher upon completion of her course next summer. Our children Sophia (7) and Joshua (5) have settled well into Ermington Primary school which has been a real answer to prayer. We are all really excited about this new chapter in our lives, and I really can’t wait to get stuck in to various projects and journeying through the next three years with you all.
